Quality & Safety Management
Integrated System
We have a comprehensive Quality Management System in place that covers all aspects of our business, with particular relevance to activities relating to the selection, placement, management and safety & health of our employees.
Extraman’s highest priority is the safety of its employees. Safety Management is an integral part of our ongoing processes and Extraman strongly believes that good Safety Management has a direct impact on quality and vice versa. Extraman’s integrated Quality and Safety Management system is directed at continuous improvement and reflects the standards, mandatory requirements, audits and safety plans with measurable actions and resources.
Extraman’s commitment to the Quality of our service and Safety & Health of our employees is recognised by certification to the ISO 9001 (Quality) and AS 4801 (Safety) standards.
Quality
Our Quality Management System ensures a consistent and methodical approach is adopted to ensure candidate skills, experience, education, training and physical attributes, inclusive of health, meet the requirements of each particular assignment. In other words that the candidate is "fit for purpose."
We don’t leave anything to chance because every step in our recruitment and placement procedures is subject to a high level of control, rigorous internal auditing and conformance to the ISO 9001:2000 standard.
Health and Safety
Throughout Australia, both Extraman and its clients (host employer) have a responsibility under the relevant State occupational safety and health legislation to ensure the following:
- To not expose employees to hazards so far as is practicable
- To provide safe systems of work
- To provide safe plant and equipment
- To provide and maintain a safe work environment
- To provide adequate training, instruction and supervision.
One of the challenges in both parties meeting these responsibilities is that while technically Extraman is the employer, our client usually has control of the workplace.
Relevant State occupational safety and health legislation requires both labour hire companies and host employers to communicate and to work together to ensure the above legislative requirements are met.
In summary, the legal responsibility to ensure the safety and health of our employees lies jointly with both Extraman and our clients. Therefore, effective consultation and communication needs to occur for both parties to meet their respective OSH legal obligations.
All steps in the core business process of Extraman, namely, the selection and placement of employees are geared towards removing or minimising as far as practicable, the potential for loss or injury.
The ExtraSafe © Six Step System details the key components of Extraman’s occupational safety and health management system (OSHMS). Our OHSMS manages the safety and health of Extraman employees from recruitment to placement and whilst working at a host employer’s workplace. The ExtraSafe © System is comprised of six steps as follows:
1. Employee Selection
2. Host Employer Profile
3. Determining Level of OSH at Host Employer
4. Placement of Employee
5. OSH Follow-Up with Host Employer
6. Monitoring Host Employer for Change
